Wow One Month Old Already!

They say time flies when you are having fun and everyday is fun admiring and watching you grow. The month has just flown by and it is almost unbelievable that it was one whole month ago since you were born.
You are the dream baby and have been right from the start. Daddy and I always made a great team of two and now we are even better team of three! We had an amazing pregnancy as I carried you and enjoyed every moment feeling you move about we couldn't wait to meet you. I found this poem the other day and it is so true you have already made such a mark on our hearts!

One month ago you decided to make your grand entrance and with our midwife Therese James at our side it couldn't have been a better experience. We all feel instantly in love with you and couldn't be more proud. You are everything we could of wished for and more. You eat well, sleep well and are growing well now weighing 8 pounds 11 ounces, making for a happy you and happy Mummy and Daddy.

We are getting out for more walks now and you seem to enjoy the ride in your pram and both Grandma and Poppa enjoy pushing you along. You are becoming very alert and know our voices very well, always searching to find us if you are being held by someone else. Your little smiles bring us all joy every time we see one unfold. It has become a bit of a game. Over the weekend Grandma was trying to get you to smile and then Poppa came along and you gave him one straight away. You love your showers with Daddy a special time for the two of you. Plus they help you have a really good nights sleep, only waking up once in the night for more food. You and I went out for lunch last Wednesday to meet up with the other mums and babies from our antenatal group. You were such a dream baby and while others had to be picked up and cuddled or feed because they were upset you slept through the whole thing from the time you got in the car to the time we arrived home.  These catch ups have become a regular highlight of the week.

You are well loved by family and friends and have received so many presents from people, you got a Bunnykins mug from the Benton family last weekend  and some togs from Logan and Lisa on your one month birthday, that we decided to have a bit of fun with a photo idea for some Thank You cards. I drew a stork on the driveway and as you woke I rushed outside with a mattress and blankets to wrap you up on our driveway and the ladder for me to stand on and take a photo of you looking like you were being delivered by the stork.

Today being your one month birthday I also took some photos of you to mark the occasion. Already looking back at photos you are changing and I wanted to make sure I captured what you were like at just one month old.

More Pleasing Progress and Presents

The presents have continued to roll in.
Matt and his family gave you some Duplo to play with when you get a bit older. Ashton sent a gorgeous white onesie up and Connor and Fran sent you a cute Pooh Bear rattle. Jan and Kevin brought you a cute pink onesie and Lorraine gave you a cute pink woollen singlet. Bev from Daddy's work gave us a Pumpkin Patch voucher and Calie a Dr Seuss book. A mushroom blanket and rabbit hooded towel from Pumpkin Patch from one of Daddy's patients Kate, Bill, Kaila, Jodi and Chelsi and other patients Lindsay and Ruby Crawford gave you a warm polar fleece cot blanket and cute set of cot sheets. More patients Mike and Gem gave you some delicious Nature Baby Soap and patients Mark and Sarah gave you a cute bumble bee beanie that Sarah knitted. The Newport's sent up a gorgeous Nature Baby onesie and leggings set.
On Sunday night of your third week, you had your first outing. Normally we have Sunday roast at Nana and Poppa's and this week we thought we would give it a go taking you. You had already had some dinner and were tucked up fast asleep in your bed earlier so I carefully moved you into your car seat and packed the nappy bag ready for our trip out. Daddy grabbed your bed and placed that in the car you were obviously tired because you slept through it all and when we got to Nana and Poppa's we decided you looked so peaceful in your carseat that we would leave you to sleep in their room under the heat pump to keep warm. We were able to have dinner and stay a little while after that before you started to want your second dinner and we headed home.
On Monday Therese called in again to see how we were doing and to check on your progress again you had put on weight and were turning on the cute factor. You now weigh 7lb 4 oz which is one ounce more than what I weighed when I was born. I got a rude shock to motherhood this week! You have always been great at making dirty nappies but today as I changed your already dirty nappy I heard your bottom begin to bubble and started to move your legs down however I didn't fire them down fast enough because the poo shot out all over me!
Tuesday we had our first big outing just you and I. Daddy reminded me to make your car seat click, I think he was a little nervous about the two of us heading out on our own. We headed back to River Ridge to see a paediatrician to check everything is as it should be and of course it was. Once again you looked like a very loved little girl who is doing well. Poppa Head had just had an operation at the hospital next door so we called in to surprise him and he was very excited to see his little granddaughter as his first visitor.

The following week you gained more weight, weighing in at 7lb 15oz and we headed out for our first proper trip to catch up with the other mums and babies from our antenatal group. You have really got the hang of this eating and sleeping business and are the perfect little baby because of it.

Second week at home

On Monday our wonderful midwife Therese James called in to have a cuddle and weigh you, the first time you had been weighed since being born. Everyone was excited to see that you were doing well and growing, putting on 220 grams since being born. You are doing well and Mummy and Daddy can proudly say that you don't keep us up all night, you just want some food around 11 or 12 and again around 1 or 2 and close to get up time at 5:30 anyway. Already you have got a bit of a routine happening waking up hungry having drink, a nappy change, a cuddle and bedtime story then back to bed within an hour of getting up. On Wednesday you started to cry so I went to get you up for some dinner I laid you on your back on your bedroom floor while I quickly raced back to the kitchen to put Daddy and I's tea in the oven. When I got back you were on your side. I rolled you back onto your back to see if you could do it again and sure enough you rolled back over obviously preferring to be on your side. This was very exciting and had me getting my Plunket book out to see when I started rolling (wasn't recorded until 9 weeks in my book but this was rolling from my back onto my tummy and back around). So now daddy thinks you are advanced and must have his genes. Only a couple of weeks have past but already you are changing getting bigger and stronger having more control of your neck and focusing on the sound of Daddy and his voice.
