After Daddy had cut your cord you were placed on my chest for a cuddle and for a few minutes we had no idea whether you were a boy or a girl. Then we discovered we had a beautiful baby girl Olivia Sophie Head born at 7:45am on May 30, 2014 weighing 6 pounds 2 ounces. A tiny bundle of joy that Daddy and I instantly fell in love with and melted our hearts.
After having your first meal Daddy dressed you up while I had a shower and cuddled you looking at amazement at all your tiny features. So tiny that your little newborn clothes were way to big for you and Grandma and Poppa had to race out and buy you some tiny baby (premature baby) clothes.

After a few hours we left Waikato Hospital with you tucked up in your cosy car seat. Daddy brought the car round and drove very carefully round to River Ridge with his precious new cargo on board. We settled into River Ridge where Grandma and Poppa had been waiting for you for several hours. They couldn't believe how gorgeous and tiny you were! You had several visitors your Nana and Poppa, Uncle Glen (who was pretty smitten) and Aunty Steph, (who came with some nice Lush smelly treats and some clothes and pink blocks for you) Great Aunty Dallas, Nicole, (who brought some nice smellies as well as some cute pink and white hats and shoes for you and a pink bunny rabbit toy) Sam and Saba (who brought some cute ladybird clothes for you). The next day Aunty Courtney and Uncle Blake arrived from down South and as soon as Aunty Courtney saw you she had tears in her eyes. They had already brought you some presents but came with some cute osh kosh onesies and a card from Blake's mum and a lovely woollen singlet from Blake's Grandma. Belinda came for a cuddle, dropping in a cute tunic with blue and pink tights. Great Aunty Dallas, Great Uncle Steve and cousins Sam, Matt and Piper called in with a rainmaker, magazine and smellies and a teddy bear with outfits you can dress it up in, as well as your Grandma and Poppa and Nana and Poppa.
Sunday June 1st was when you were predicted to make your arrival but coming a few days early meant that Sunday was the day we would bring you home to meet your little furry sister and see your bedroom. But before we could go you had a hearing test. Pleasingly you passed with 100% and Daddy was super proud saying; "this will be the first of your many tests in life Olivia and already you are passing with 100%." Once again Daddy warmed the car up and brought it round for you tucked up in your car seat while Grandma and Aunty Courtney were busy at home making your house nice and cosy warm awaiting your arrival. We enjoyed having you home having cuddles and reading you stories. Our neighbours Ian and Dianne popped over to meet you when we got home bringing you a cute pink doll with a blanket perfect for taking in the pram. Daddy raced out with Grandma to buy a nice sheepskin to keep your bed toasty warm and a heater for your room.
On Monday you meet your Great Grandad Head and his sisters Rachel and Joanne, bringing with them flowers and moisturiser. Great Aunty Totty came for a cuddle and cousin Piper couldn't stay away. She got up in the morning and put on one of her favourite outfits to come around and see you with Great Aunty Dallas. Adam and Nicole also popped in to meet you and cuddle you bringing more gifts, cupcakes, buzzy bee outfit, pram toys, bath toys, hug-o-saurus toy, pram book, blanket, teething toy and cot toys. The Greene's had dinner with Grandma and Poppa on Saturday night and they brought you a nice pink jumpsuit and white cardigan.
Coming home you had one unsettled night (Monday night) where you just couldn't get to sleep but since that night you have been eating well, sleeping well and have mastered creating dirty nappies for Mummy and Daddy to change. On Monday you had your first shower with Daddy and what a special time shower time is, with both of you enjoying looking into each others eyes. Your first shower Daddy wasn't quite sure if you liked it or not but soon realised the funny face was because you were about to sneeze. You loved feeling the warm water trickling down and started to cry when Daddy passed you back to me outside of the shower; you obviously wanted more!
Great Aunty Joanne and cousins Matt and Harrison came around to visit on Tuesday and you were very spoilt with Mum 2 Mum bits and pieces. Hooded bath towels, face cloths, bibs, change mat and a couple of swaddles.
On Wednesday afternoon Great Grandad Bond came to visit and brought with him a Bunnykins bowl and spoon to eat from when you get a bit older.
On Thursday cousin Caroline came around to drop off some dinner for us some yummy baking and a present (your first merino nightie). Daddy also came home from work with presents from one of his lovely patients the Ballantyne family who gave him a box of beer, me some smellies and you a lovely pink merino blanket.
Now a week old and you are getting into a routine of sleeping for about four hours and then waking for some food a nappy change and then back down to sleep. We all love cuddling and even just peering into your bassinet watching you sleep marveling at your tiny features. It is crazy to think that a week has already passed us by. You are just as gorgeous as when we first laid eyes on you and we couldn't be more proud of you.
